Hartlen Point Golf Course is located at the entrance to the Halifax Harbor in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia.

It is considered by many NS golfers as one of the most challenging, scenic and well-conditioned facilities in the province. The ocean views throughout the course are some of the finest in the Halifax area.

The course is a par 71 (37/34) measuring 6388 yards from the back tees. With ever present ocean winds the course often seems to play much longer. There are five sets of tees that can provide a test to all skill levels.

Originally, the land the course was built on was used as a military fortification called Devil’s Battery. In the early 1960’s the idea of building a golf course to service the personnel of CFB Shearwater and their families with crown land was proposed. Much of the work to build the course was done by military and local community volunteers. The course originally opened with three holes. Another six holes were built in the late 1960’s.  With the help of a Canadian Forces loan the 18-hole course was completed in 1974.

Since 1974, the course has had many substantial changes and improvements done.  In 1990 a new clubhouse was constructed; three new holes were built, and a rerouting of the holes took place. A driving range was also built at this time.

Hartlen Point has hosted many provincial and military championships throughout the years and has always had a very active and welcoming membership.
